Pre Nursery School Education and Its Lasting Effects

Our children are the future of tomorrow.  It has been the constant endeavour of parents to give their children the best, so they become happy, confident and culturally sound human beings. To help you fulfil your dreams for your kids, primary schools today are constantly upgrading themselves with the latest teaching methods to motivate children by modelling enthusiasm and curiosity.

There is a famous Native American saying "Tell me and I'll forget. Show me and I may not remember. Involve me and I'll understand ". This approach is commonly being followed by today's pre - primary schools.

India's leading pre school Little Millennium 's vision, mission and philosophy are also on these lines. Here they strive to excel in imparting pre-primary education of high quality standards and effective learning techniques set by well- read and handpicked team.

Learning is an interrelated process addressing to physical, emotional and social dimensions. Fostering confidence and independence in the learners is the prime focus of primary schools.
Kids these days are consequently curious, energetic, active and very eager to learn all from experience. They are active and their attention span is limited to 7 to 15 minutes at the maximum. Therefore pre- schools are constantly using different methodology to capture the kid’s attention and make them learn without pressure.

Montessori Method, Theme - based method, Multiple Intelligence, Play-way method and project based methods are few important ways to accomplish balanced education. To give you a better understanding how these methods are being used in our primary school, I have briefly mentioned some below:

Starting with one of the older Montessori Method. It is basically a unique approach to learning rather than teaching the child concepts, an environment is designed to stimulate his understanding and learning capacities with little or no adult help. The Montessori Method emphasises on independence, freedom with limits and respect for a child's natural psychological development.

Play- way methods of learning becomes a fun process with an interactive medium. Lots of educational toys are being used these days to enhance their abilities of problem - solving, logical thinking and eye co - ordination. Primary school recognises the importance of play as a learning tool, hands on exploration over worksheets and memorisation. Thematic approach to learning helps children in taking to their immediate environment in a positive manner. Dramatisation, singing, practical demonstration and a combination of audio and visual fun filled teaching aids are used.

Project based method used by primary schools helps children to express themselves and develops their fine motor skills. These activities give the pre school kids opportunities to explore and express their creativity through various different materials like clay, paints and paper.

In the recent times Multiple Intelligence method has been very frequently used in Indian education circles, many pre primary school base their academic approach on it. Developed by Howard Gardener, he proposed that all human beings posses nine intelligences in varying amounts, each child has a different intellectual composition. Each of these intelligences identified with different parts of the brain.

Little Millennium pre primary school utilises a unique Eclectic Approach to teaching, that embraces the best features of all the above methods raising each and every child to a higher level of awareness and understanding.

In short, "Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness, but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius in each"

Stop thinking K to 12, and start thinking pre-K to 12

States are required to provide education for students in grades 1 to 12, which means that even in tough economic times, they can reduce funding only on a per-child basis. The same is not true for preschool. Only a handful of states are required to provide pre-K; all the others can choose to cap enrollment for low-income children or stop funding these programs altogether. "One of the reasons that it's easy in some states to cut back pre-K investments when times are tough is this idea that it's just a program for some kids, not something for all kids," Michele Palermo, coordinator of early-childhood initiatives at the Rhode Island Department of Education, is quoted as saying in the Pew report. "And we in the trenches are always kind of puzzled. ... You wouldn't just cut out second grade. Why are we just cutting out pre-K? And you wouldn't just provide second grade to some kids but not all kids."

The Advantages of Preschool Education

Preschool education can be very beneficial for children, both academically and socially. Preschool prepares children academically, socially and emotionally for kindergarten.
f you have a child who is about two to three years old, you may consider sending him or her to a nursery. Beckenham has some good preschools for toddlers. It is important to send a child to such a school because children who are deprived of this phase of education may remain behind others when they join primary school and this can prove to be a disadvantage.
Children in this age group learn very quickly and can assimilate information very fast. If they are gently encouraged to learn through interesting games, they pick up skills that will help them maintain an edge through out their lives. This is because the brain tends to develop connections at this stage and the child picks up cognitive skills quickly. If you boost the development of the child's brain by teaching the alphabet and numbers, you will enable him or her to pick up more complex skills like reading when he or she is old enough for school.
If your child can read relatively early on, they will be able pick up more complex skills and enjoy the lessons that are taught in school. Parents may not always have enough time to sit down regularly with their children and teach them skills like reading.
Preschools provide a soft landing to children when they eventually go to primary school because they are already familiar with their roles as learners. In schools children are expected to perform well. If they are not accustomed to a social environment, they tend to get overwhelmed by the large number of people around them and by the time they get used to the system, they have lost valuable time. Interacting with peers does not come to everyone naturally and some toddlers need to be given some time to learn how to communicate with unfamiliar people.Remember that distance from home is an important factor that determines the choice of the nursery.
